Ian: Breastfeeding & Chores

I have just a few minutes so I will tell you a few funny stories about Ian.

Mail women
The kids were playing outside and I was inside with Kodah and the mail woman came (a stranger). Ian ran up to her and gave her a big hug and kissed her on the lips. The next day she came over to the house to see Kodah and explained to me the situation from the previous day. She said it really caught her off guard. The main reason she stopped though was because she wanted to make sure he wasn't that friendly with everyone. It made her day. When she was leaving, she asked Ian if she could take Kodah with her - as a joke - and he told her no because she didn't have any boobies to feed him with.

Breastfeeding
We have had VBS here and one of Ian's teachers, who is 18 I think, told me this story about Ian. "Ian was sitting beside me and he sort of touched my boobies and said, 'you are going to have a baby' she said, 'no, I'm not' and then Ian said, 'my momma has those and she just had a baby'" I about died! Yes, we have had a talk about it but I'm not promising anything.

Taking out the Trash
I gave each of the kids (5 of them: Madisyn my niece, Maci my niece, Tucker my nephew, Nia & Ian) a chore to do. Ian's was the trash, you know gather all the trash cans, dump them into the big trash, and take them to the dumpster. After he had collected all the trash, he put them into the wagon and I told him to take the wagon outside and wait for Madisyn to go with him to the dumpster. I walked outside and the wagon was empty ???? What happened to the trash? I asked? and he told me that 2 people were walking by on the road and he asked them to take the trash to the dumpster and they did!!! I guess that's one way to get it done!

Ian is such a character! He is the sweetest and friendliest little boy I know but there is also an honory and aggressive side to him. Most people only see the later of the two. He is funny, loves people (obviously), and is a joy to be around.

"Noddy Cain"

Last night during Bible story time with the kids, we read the story of Cain & Abel. At the end of the story it says that Cain was sent away to the land of Nod. And Nia replies, "because he was Noddy (naughty)". So clever!

V8 Juice & Bible Story

I bought some V8 juice (just regular - no flavoring added) today because we have been on a health kick lately. Since it is Wednesday and we always have trouble fitting everything in on this day, we had leftovers for supper, Beef Enchiladas/Rice/Sour Cream, but we didn't have any veggies. So, I pulled out the V8 juice and made them drink some. Nia was super excited because she had tasted some before but Ian on the other hand was not enthused.

Nia: It kind of tastes like ravioli sauce.
Amy: Yeah, you're right!
Ian: It tastes like poop!!!!!!!!!

I still made them drink it and each time Ian got a drink he got the hibbe-gibbes (you know - the shivers). Then he started telling me that it was making his tummy hurt.

My kids have been on a roll lately! Unfortunately, it has all been gross things - but OH, so funny!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This just in!
I was reading the story about Jesus feeding the 5000 and it said that Jesus felt deep concern for the large crowd. So I asked the kids if they have ever felt deep concern for someone.
Nia: Yes, like when Ian has fever or is sick.
Amy: Yeah, we don't like it when people are sick and we can't help. What about you Ian?
Ian: When Nia dies, I'm going to cry like I mean it!
What Dad is Teaching Mom....
We were eating supper the other night and Nia asked me where I learned - something - (I can't recall exactly what it was - I'm pregnant - I have a good excuse).
Me: I learned it (whatever it was) from daddy.
Nia: You learn a lot from him.
Me: Like what? (expecting something like tv stuff or electronics or work related)
Nia: How to hawk a loogie!
After a good laugh, she explained: Remember when I asked you why you hawk a loogie after you brush your teeth and tongue? (not pretty, but true) And you told me that you learned it from daddy?
The Things Kids DO...
Read and view at your own risk! Gross things from my 4 year old.
Ian has been noticing the differences between he and his daddy. Yesterday he told us that when he gets bigger that he is going to have hair under his arms. In his eyes, this is awesome!!!!
Today, instead of hair under his arms, he decided he would be cute by saying he would have hair in his hiney. (NO, Romeo has not show him this). I realized that he was being awful quiet so I went to check on him. To make his point even funnier and visual, he got a wig and had stuck it in his crack. You should have seen him walk around trying to keep in it. It was so funny.
He definetly needs a trim, wouldn't you say!
La-La Land
Me and the kids were watching "Left Behind" the movie and Ian fell asleep. Romeo took him potty and then to bed. The whole time he was smiling off in la-la land. He called me in there and said in a whispering voice, "Mama, I need to tell you something. People died in this area. God died in this area."
Love My Kids
Nia: Can we go on a walk today?
Ian: I want to watch a movie.
Nia: No!! That's lazy!
Ian: I want to be lazy.
_____________________
Nia and I were discussing what she wanted for Christmas several weeks ago. She wanted lots of little things but one big thing, a Nintendo DS. Well, as you know, lots of money for that particular toy so I told her that if we got that that it would be her only toy and she & Ian would share it, each getting their own game. She really wanted the DS but wanted other things as well. As the tears roll down her cheek (because these sort of things are big deals in the life of a 6 year old), she says, if my house were on fire I would run back inside to get my DS.
You remember that question being asked to you, right? And for Nia at 6 years old it was a DS. Well, after she got over that very dramatic episode, she decided that it wasn't the best decision to make so she ended up getting other stuff.
Wishful Thinking
Me: Why haven't you lost any teeth?
Nia: I don't know?
Me: You know, the tooth fairy isn't real.
Nia: What? She always gives kids money under their pillow.
Me: It is really mom & dad. I haven't thought about what to do for this special occassion but we will come up with something.
Nia: (Popped up, real excited and said) What about a savings bond!
Sewing Is A Big Job If You Ask Me!
Nia & I were playing reverse roles today as we talked about the Bible. She was teaching me the story of Adam & Eve and the result of their sin.
Me: What was Adam's (man's) punishment?
Nia: He would have to work the ground to eat.
Me: Okay, what about Eve (women)?
Nia: She would have to sew all the clothes.
The Things Kids Say...
Today Ian was using a q-tip and he said that the stuff that came out of his ears was gas. He has admitted that he has had gas for the past couple days (the silent but deadly kind). I guess he thought he would get rid of it by "cleaning the gas out of his ears".
We went to pick Nia up from school one day and standing outside was Nia's kindergarten teacher, Ms. Pat and a girl that was in Nia's class last year, Adriana. Ian was trying to loosen the grip off my hand to go give hugs. (Ian got to know both of them last year). Ms. Pat held out here arms to give bigs hugs while saying that she thought she was not going to get one and Ian ran right for Adriana. Adriana had the biggest smile and we got a laugh out of it. I asked him why he didn't give Ms. Pat a hug and this is what he said, "me in love with that gurwl, not Ms. Pat". He also teased Nia one day about her being "In Love" with a boy. This is his new thing.
Interesting Times With Ian
Staring out the window of the car in a very tired-like manner says, "Me wish me was a bird so me can fly."
He has said this particular phrase several times now while we are playing together: "Watch and Learn"
.
While he was changing clothes for bedtime, he says to Nia, "Don't look at my boobies" and then looking to me he said "kids have boobies too."
A few weeks ago he decided to go #2
in the shower (he has been potty trained for almost 2 years - this was purely out of curiosity). The reasoning, "it was fun". Later I asked him if it was fun cleaning it up and he said "No, it was yucky". He has since told me as he gets into the shower that we don't poop in the shower, it is yucky. The picture is very fitting.
Joy of Kids
Ian: GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY
We have been building a wall in between the kids rooms. I taped some plastic to the wall in order to keep the dust to a minimal while sanding.
Me: Did you pull down my plastic?
Ian: No, I didn't.
I pick up the phone.
Ian: You calling the police?
While I was cooking supper, Nia & Ian started playing school. This was not your typical school.
Teacher Nia: Turn to Proverbs 8:24. You will have to write this in cursive and I will test you on it. He made a 75 on it.
Teacher Ian: Turn to chapter ?. Read this and we are going outside. Outside is over - us in chapter six - okay, us done, us going outside.
Scary teacher face!
This was Ian's cursive that he made a 75 on.
Dreams
Nia woke up early this morning and came to my side of the bed crying at 5:15 a.m. because she had a scary dream several times in the night about a monster that killed kids who were loud and it got one of her friends named Cheyenne. She brought her blankets in my room and slept on the floor but she wanted me to pray for her before she went back to sleep. This morning after waking her up this is what she told me:
"I dreamed that I was with Jesus in heaven and we were playing games. Chutes & Ladders, dominoes, & Guess Who and Jesus won Guess Who."
Ian was hearing the conversation in the next room and said, "Me too". So I asked him what his dream was and he said the exact same thing except it wasn't with Jesus, it was with little bears.
Me: Oh, thank you! I hope I never leave your heart.
Ian: My heart sticky. You stick on my heart.
Me: Really
Ian: Me chew gum all the time (pause) my brain sticky too.
Red Ant
While at Mema's, Nia ran in from playing outside. She was shaking her hand up and down, up and down, over and over. This was the conversation:
Me: What happened?
Nia: A red ant bit me.
Me: What were you doing?
Nia: Trying to catch them.
UHH DUHHHH!!!
I bet she won't do that again.
