Sick Ian
Ian has been sick - sore throat, coughing, headaches, that sort of stuff. He is a great sick kid because he doesn't do a lot of complaining. But he is very clingy. I went to drink coffee at the church with my mom one morning while he and daddy were still asleep. I was only gone for 30-45 minutes. When I got back home he had moved a chair in front of the door, brought his pillow and blanket, and was watching and waiting for me to get home. When I walked in the door he told me that he missed me. It made my heart melt. I love being a mom.

I AM SO PROUD!
I have not felt good all day yesterday and today. I slept with my contacts in (I know, dumb idea) Wednesday night. I woke up Thursday with sever pain in my left eye. I thought it would get better throughout the day but it didn't. Thursday night was miserable - no sleep. I knew I had to see the doctor. The doctor gave me some antibiotic eye drops. I have been feeling a little better but still real drowsy - due to me rubbing, all the watery eyes, swelling behind my eye causing headaches, and of course the no sleep for 2 nights doesn't help.
But, life goes on right? My Realtor called today to tell me someone needs to show my house tomorrow morning. Well, you know how it goes, when moms sick, not much cleaning gets done. So, my house is in need of a good clean before tomorrow.
My kids are used to helping in that area so I just told them today we were going to focus on cleaning and tomorrow they could be kids and play outside! But to be honest I was not enthused about this because I just want to rest. I told the kids that and here's their response.
Nia: you can go sleep and me and Ian will watch TV. (WHAT?)
Ian: I have an idea!
Amy: let's hear it
Ian: you go take a nap and we will clean!
Nia: we will just do the small things.
Ian: no, I want to do everything!
Amy: I think you are on to something Ian!
Amy: I can't let you do all the work!
Nia: We want to do it all by ourselves!
Ian: Please!
Amy: Okay, 30 minutes and then we can all do what doesn't get done!
So guess what I am doing? Blogging while my kids clean my house! REALLY?
I am SO Proud!

The Events of the Day
It started at 5:40 am up with a sore throat. I had decided that I would go ahead and get ready for the day until I realized that the water pipes were frozen, again! I got Romeo and he got it all taken care of but it took until after 9:00 am for the water to start running again. This has happened about 5 times this winter.
Then off to my first Dr. appointment for my pregnancy. Everything looked great there and we learned that I was 14 weeks along and my due date is July 23rd. Very exciting until they MADE me go get blood drawn. I did ask if I could refuse it and of course I could but I was just being a little stubborn. So I went! I talked to the phlebotomist about my fear and she laughed at me and then told me that she was drawing 5 veils of blood!!! WHAT??? She got it on the first try and did a great job! I sang "Hallelujah" after it was over and then gave her a hug.
The roads here are still real icy and I learned that 2 people from our church were in a tragic car accident, killing one and leaving the other in the hospital. Please be in prayer for the family of Hank Stokes and Becky Carnell. (more about this below)
Supper time and Ian was helping me cook and ran his finger across a hot pan and sired his pinky finger. He said that it looked like a potato and he was scared we were going to eat it.
What an eventful day. I don't mean to just throw that tragic accident into just another day. DeLana Stokes (Hank's wife) is a very special lady. She and I did a Bible study together just recently and my heart just breaks for her. Nia was very loving towards Hank, hugging him every time she saw him. He will be truly missed. Becky Carnell I know because we were in the same Sunday school class for some time. She is okay but in the hospital with something broken and pain in her chest (not sure with all the detail so don't want to start any rumors with my info.). How does that happen, two people, in different vehicles, from the same church, get involved in the same accident? Please lift these families up in prayer.

UPDATES! Glasses/Spider Bite/Birthday
Nia got her glasses yesterday. What a cutie!

Yesterday Ian got a package in the mail from Mema for his birthday. She called wanting a zip code a few days ago and I asked what she was sending. All she told me was that it might involve cleanup. Thanks Mom. (At least it was a small bottle)

After posting the Spider Bite, I got some suggestions. My Papa said to slice an onion and leave it on the bite for a while. Although an odd suggestion, I sliced an onion, put it on the bite and bandaged it. She wore it to school. A few people told her she was weird. That same day I took her to the doctor. They were fairly certain it was just a spider bite and there was nothing to be done. I asked if it might be infected but they assured me it wasn't. I told them about the onion and they said they had heard that might work. I didn't see any noticeable difference but who knows. Today the ring is pink not red. I am hoping that means it is healing.
I STILL haven't found my medicine.

Is this Chicken Pox?
Nia came up with a spot on her chest and she said the cat scratched her. It has since gotten bigger and looks to us like a ring worm so we have been treating it as such (the biggest spot in the middle that looks different than all the rest). However, in the last couple of days she has run fever constantly, had severe headaches, and more spots are developing on her neck/chest area. We looked online at the look of chicken pox and it is identical. She only has 10 spots though and it has been 2 days since the other spots came up. She is up-to-date on all her shots. Not sure what to think!!?

Big Head Deflated!
Romeo was doing some work in his office this evening involving needle-nose pliers. He was pulling a zip tie with the pliers to tighten it and it slipped, stabbing him in the forehead. I wish I could have seen that one.
