The first time, I wanted a boy, Romeo wanted a girl. We got Nia! Thank you Lord!
The second time, I wanted a girl, Romeo wanted a boy. We got Ian! Thank you Lord Again!
This time, I wanted a boy, Romeo didn't really have a strong preference. I finally am going to get what I want. Of course I would have been very excited about a girl but I am SOOOO very excited about the BOY! YEAH!

Roses?? Nahh... I'd rather have Pickles!
We always have very little money to spend on each other for holidays or anniversaries and this Valentine's Day was no different. Romeo and I both are not big on gifts and don't really care if we get anything or not - that's just how we are. I don't need a gift from him to let me know He loves me because he shows me everyday by his selfless acts of kindness and love towards me. And even when we did have money to spend on each other - you know, before kids - I wanted something thought through, meaningful, just for me and I was never big on flowers. My husband knows me well! Here's what he did for me.
On our way to bed I pass my computer table where a HUGE jar of pickles and a bag of Russel Stover's chocolates sit waiting for me to find. Why is this soooo special? Well, first of all I am pregnant as we all know by now and I have been eating pickles with LOTS of things and we ran out the other day and with no money I was forced to go without. Second, Romeo had received a gift card as a reward for something he had done at work and used it on me. And lastly, I was not expecting it at all so it made it all the more special.

Sibling Love
Kids will be kids right? Some days they fight all day long and some days they just love each other wholeheartedly. Today was one of the later days. Okay, maybe I should have said SO FAR it has been one of the later days. What was I thinking?
Nia got to make a edible snowmen at school today and asked her teacher if they had enough for her to take one home for her brother. So when we got home she sat down with him and taught him how to put it together. It was so sweet. Or for another instance... Nia was invited to a birthday party but Ian wasn't so Nia pleaded with me to let Ian come with us. When she knew I wasn't going to change my mind she decided that she would just bring him a piece of cake. Or for this instance.. many days she loads herself into our car from school and says, "Ian, I have a surprise for you!" It's mostly the snack they had that day if they allowed her to take an extra. She is all the time carrying him around on her back, sliding around on the slippery floor with him and playing with all his boy toys just so they can play together.
Some days I think I'm going to lose my mind but days like today make it all worth it.

Trying Something New
Our 6 year old - Nia - is an avid thumb-sucker. She cry's when she thinks about quitting. She knows she has to quit but hates the idea. The kids at school make fun of her and she is scared that when she moves and starts making new friends, that no one will want to be friends with her because she sucks her thumb.
We are always after her about quitting and came up with a new plan. If she doesn't suck her thumb for 14 days straight, she gets to go anywhere she wants (at this point, it's chucke-cheese). But for her age she needs to have something to look forward to every day - working up to that 2 weeks. So... for each day she doesn't suck her thumb, she gets a dollar. It seems like we are spoiling her and we probably are however, I am willing to do just about anything to get her to quit. I drives me and Romeo nuts.
She has been successful today! It truly is hard to quit something you have done for 6 years. I feel for her. She is really trying this time and we are hoping it REALLY works.
Then, after Nia, we tackle #2 - Ian. I am going to do everything in my power to keep the new baby from sucking its thumb.
UPDATE!
2-4 - Great job Nia
2-5 - Oops, messed up!
2-6 - so far so good! Nope, messed up again
2-7 - okay, she isn't trying anymore! I took her $1 away! : <
