Craving - What?

The Dr.'s office gave me a book yesterday and I looked over it and found this absolutely disgusting. Does this really happen?

"Pica is a strong urge some women feel to eat non-food items such as laundry starch, clay, or chalk. If you feel these urges, don't indulge in them." Your Pregnancy & Birth: 4th addition

That does sound digusting. I am so glad that I never craved anything like that.

Never heard of craving stuff like that - have seen people eat weird stuff to get in the Guiness Book of World Records, though.

Either way, YUCK!!!

Amy - I have PICA when my iron bottoms out. My urge is ice and it's the weirdest thing. 99% of the time ice hurts my teeth. When my iron goes down I have the urge to tackle anyone with a Sonic cup and gobble down the ice. I somehow maintain control, but it is most definitely an odd malady.

Thank goodness it's not dirt or cigarette butts....I've heard those are symptoms too. Ewww.

I had that problem when I was pregnant with Ian. I was craving ice everywhere I went. But dirt and cigarette butts - thank you Lord that I never did crave any of that stuff.
